About Us
Avighna Abhyasa Institute of Fine Arts (AAIFA) was founded by Guru Smt. Haripriya Pettem, a passionate artist and educator dedicated to preserving the essence of Indian classical arts. Established in 2021, the institute offers professional training in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Music, Mridangam, and Drawing & Painting, and is affiliated with Bir Tikendrajit University, Manipur.
Guru Haripriya began her artistic journey at a young age, training under renowned teachers such as Shri Suresh (Folk Dance), Smt. Dwaram Lakshmi (Carnatic Music), and Smt. Sujatha Ravi Subramanyam (Bharatanatyam). Her commitment and vision have shaped the institute into a respected center of excellence, now guiding over 150 students across India and abroad.
At Avighna Abhyasa, learning is not confined to technique alone — it is a spiritual discipline that cultivates creativity, confidence, and character. Each student is mentored to understand the deeper meaning of art and its ability to enrich life with grace and expression.
“What I learnt from my gurus was a style, but as I internalized it, it became a language — a way to express my soul.”
— Guru Smt. Haripriya Pettem
Born on 2nd August 1984, Guru Haripriya Pettem discovered her love for fine arts early in life. Despite limited opportunities during childhood, her determination led her to train under distinguished mentors — Shri Suresh (Folk Dance), Smt. Dwaram Lakshmi (Carnatic Music), and Smt. Sujatha Ravi Subramanyam (Bharatanatyam).
Her journey began in Padmavati University, Tirupati, where she actively participated in performances like Nadaneerajanam 2009 at Tirumala and the National Cultural Competition. Later, she pursued her Masters in Fine Arts from Annamalai University, while also holding postgraduate degrees in computer applications and technology.
Having served as an Assistant Professor at J.B. College, Tirupati for six years, she later moved to Bengaluru to continue her pursuit of classical arts. With over 16 years of experience in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music, she established Avighna Abhyasa Institute of Fine Arts in 2021.
Her teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing discipline, devotion, and creativity — empowering students to express themselves authentically through art.
